Nature photography is a passion of mine. In my spare time I often escape into nature, trying to capture that unique and interesting image that is often very elusive.  I mainly concentrate on bird photography, but if the opportunity presents itself I enjoy capturing other subjects as much. I am not a "collector" of bird species, but am rather hoping to capture a beautiful, artistic and interesting image; even if it is of a common bird.

Living in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia, I am very fortunate to be surrounded by natural beauty and very rich fauna. That said, it is still very difficult getting the images I strive for. Birds are shy and rarely sit in the right position, so a lot of patience is required.

The above quote from Ruskin summarizes well how I experience nature. Spending time in nature often enriches me.  It could be by seeing its beauty, or by learning an animal's behavior; seeing how they interact with each other, or experiencing a close encounter.

I often use a hide to photograph from, and for camera equipment I use Nikon digital SLRs with lenses ranging from 14mm to 500mm in focal length.
